The National Catholic Basilica

The Basilica Of The National Shrine Of The Immaculate Conception

The Catholic Basilica in Washington, D.C., which is referred to as the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, is the largest basilica of its kind in the entire United States. On February 6, 2018, I was fortunate enough to visit this magnificent structure that had its cornerstone first laid in 1920.

By each entrance are various statutes and inscriptions such as, “We have the former word of prophecy to which you well to attend” for visitors to see.

The Basilica is nextdoor to present day Catholic University of America.
