The Establishment Of The Central Intelligence Agency

The current Central Intelligence Agency is originated from spy networks established against the axis powers during World War II. On July 11, 1941, the Office of the Coordinator of Information, was created to assist with spy efforts during the war. During World War II, the Office of Strategic Services and the Strategic Services Unit were created to assist the military.

Years later, in 1960, during the Cold War, the Central Intelligence Agency was established as its own government agency in McLean, Virginia.
