On April 21, 2018 I got to visit the Acton House, which has been re-purposed as the Morgan Hill History Museum. The Aston home that was built in 1911 and a centennial garden, which highlights events during Morgan Hill city’s existence, was built in front of the home, in 2006, decades after it was moved from Main Street.
The Aston family had moved from their Willow Tree Farm in Minnesota to Morgan Hill in the early 1900s. Since being built the Aston home has moved from its original location twice. The floor to the home is original and the bolts affixed to the floor at the time of each move is still present.
At the time, the Morgan Hill Museum had a special exhibit on the native Americans who used to live on the land within the city.
The museum hosts weekly history talks every Friday at 1PM. Unlike most historical societies and meet ups, each talk is unplanned and is open to any historical subject.
