The Marshall House was the home of the American patriot George Catlett Marshall, who served as a President of the Red Cross, as a Special Envoy to China, as the Secretary of Defense, as the Army Chief of Staff during World War II.
General John Joseph Pershing, the commander of the American Expeditionary Force in Europe during World War I, was a mentor to George Marshal during his lifetime. After the President Harry Truman came to visit the Marshall House to ask George Marshall to be the United States Secretary of Defense.
