The Founding Of The City Of Baltimore

The City of Baltimore, Maryland was incorporated on July 30, 1729 and named after Cecil Calvert whose royal name was Lord Baltimore.

Cecil Calvert has been the first Proprietor of the Province of Maryland, the second Proprietary Governor of the Colony of Avalon and the ninth Proprietary Governor of the Colony of Newfoundland.

Federal Hill is the site of many monuments, including the original Washington Monument which is older and smaller than the Washington Monument in the Washington, D.C.

Fort McHenry was the site of a decisive victory against the British Army and Navy on September 13, 1814.
