Valentines, Virginia is an unincorporated town within Brunswick County two miles from the North Carolina border. A Wright’s General Merchandise Store has a post office inside that has a tradition of stamping each letter with a heart.

The Founding Of Brunswick County, Virginia

In 1720, the Virginia General Assembly formed Brunswick County From part of King George County, Virginia. Brunswick was a German State that English King George I presided over. Due to a lack of taxpayer funds, it took a dozen years for a Brunswick County government to be formed after its founding.
