Starting in the 16th Century, the Spanish Empire reigned over the islands of Puerto Rico, and various other parts of Mexica and lands that would become part of the United States.
In September 23, 1868, about 600 individuals rebelled against Spanish Colonial rule in a failed attempted called “El Grito de Lares” (The Cry of Lares).
