On August 27, 1976, employees of SRI were sitting behind the historic Alpine Inn when they sent the first electronic message in the world.
In the 1850s, the Casa de Tableta, the building originally on site before the Alpine Inn, was originally built by Félix Buelna.
On October 2, 2019, Philip Hamilton visited the site where the first electronic message was sent.
