1853, with a single adobe hut on land outside Los Angeles, California. By 1870, Hollywood, California grew to a series of farms that became a thriving agricultural community. When the silent film industry began, the town of Niles in northern California, was the site where most movies were filmed. It was not until the 1920s that Hollywood gained more prominence.
