George Lewis Colegrove – A Union Veteran Who Was A Stagecoach Driver Over The Santa Cruz

George Lewis Colegrove served for the Illinois Infantry as a wagoner for the Union Army. However, a broken leg shortened the term of his service to less than a year. In 1863, George Lewis Colegrove moved to California and on July 15, 1869, he drove his first stagecoach over the Santa Cruz Mountains.
