In 1777, El Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe, The Town of Saint Joseph of Guadalupe, was founded by Spanish Captain Juan Bautista de Anza II and his followers. The settlers established a series of adobes, such as the Luis Maria Peralta Adobe.
