In 1805, Revolutionary War Veteran John Hunt moved from Tennessee to what would become the town of Huntsville, Alabama. At the time of first settlement, Alabama was still a portion of the Mississippi Territory that the Indians called “Ah-la-bama”. In 1811, Huntsville became the first incorporated town in Alabama.
