The Founding of Front Royal, Virginia

In 1754, Peter LeHew, a French Hugenot, bought a 200 acre piece of land that would be called LeHewtown, Virginia. On November 15, 1788, the Virginia State legislature renamed LeHewtown to Front Royal, Virginia. To this day, the origin of the name Front Royal is unknown.
