The Battle of Front Royal – Part Of General Stonewall Jackson’s Campaign Through The Shenandoah Valley

On May 23, 1862, the Battle of Front Royal erupted at Front Royal, Virginia after General Stonewall Jackson’s forces encountered the Maryland 1st Infantry under the command of Colonel John Reese Kenly.
