The Founding Of King And Queen County, Virginia

In 1691, King and Queen County was formed from part of New Kent County; and was named after King William III and Queen Mary II of England. King and Queen County is one of the few counties within the United States to have recorded a larger population in the 1790 census than in the census conducted in 2010.
