General Richard Montgomery – Whom Lead A Failed American Invasion Of Canada in 1775

Richard Montgomery was an Irish soldier who faught for Great Britain’s army that was established in the American colonies. During the Revolutionary War, Richard Montgomery served as a general who lead an invasion of Quebec, Canada in 1775.

The invasion of Quebec was the first major military initiative pushed the Continental Army. However, while the Continental army went on the offensive, the measure was a failure.

Montgomery County, Maryland was founded during the Revolutionary War, in 1776, and the county was named after General Richard Montgomery.
