Charles Martinet – The Voice Of Nintendo’s Mario

Charles Martinet was a history major, in a college he ended up dropping out of, after he failed to complete his thesis. Charles had spent time in Barcelona, Spain and in France in the 1960 with his family and had hoped to either become a lawyer or a forgone signatory. After his failure to complete his thesis in college, Charles had a friend who convinced him to get into acting. After starting his own theatre company in San Jose, California, after getting local funding, he obtained a role as an Italian character in a play.

Coincidently, after working as an Italian character, an executive from Nintendo asked Charles to audition as a voice actor for one of their trademarked video game characters. After Charle’s first audition he landed the role of Mario and has done the voice of 146 game titles between 1996, when Super Mario was launched for N64, to the year 2018.
