Ute Indians in Grand Junction, Colorado

Grand Junction in Colorado was first settled by Ute Indian tribes in the 1300 A.D. For centuries, members of the Ute tribes created petroglyphs on the rocks within the Rocky Mountain Range.

In 1881, after the settling of Grand Junction by Europeans, the Ute tribes were forced into reservations.
