Oklahoma, The Route 66 Museum

Route 66 Museum in Clinton Oklahoma

The Route 66 Museum in Clinton, Oklahoma opened to the public in September 1995.

The musuem has a comprehensive set of historical facts about the former Route 66 that ran from Jacksonville, Florida to Santa Monica, California.

The former Route 66 had the longest stretch of road in Oklahoma than it did in any other state it was built in.

The road was created to make it easier to transport goods from farms.

The creation of the first interstate highway had an adverse effect by increasing the amount of automobile accidents, as automobile use became more common.

Author’s Note:

The musuem had a photo display of the Cadillac Ranch, that I had visited earlier in my cross country trip, in Armillo, Texas.
