Germania Verein: The Oldest Private Club Of Santa Clara

In 1865, Germania Verein was first formed, after Germans who had fled their home country during the revolutions of 1848 and 1849, settled in the Santa Clara valley.

April, one of the historians of the Germania Verein, is writing a history of the German people of Santa Clara County, akin to comprehensive books already written about the Chinese and the Japense who have lived in the county. The club has a private library of German books accessible to members.

In present day, the Germania Verein serves various social functions at their Germania Hall, and other locations.
