The Portuguese Museum Of History Park has an exhibit displaying various dresses worn by the various queens of Portuguese festivals. Ever year a new queen is chosen, thus a new dress needs to be sewed together for each festival. If the family of an appointed queen cannot afford the dress, which costs upwards to thousands of dollars, a Portuguese society will pay for it’s costs.
A total of thirty dresses have been donated to the Portuguese Museum of History Park in San Jose. Some of the dresses on display date back to the 1920’s, and they are displayed on a rotation since there is not enough space to display them all at once.
